CONRAD SHADES

Conrad Shades: Custom handwoven shades and window coverings of natural grasses, reeds, and fibers to enhance residential and commercial interiors.

Natural Handwoven Window Coverings

Conrad shades are naturally translucent, making them excellent for any room with a view. For sun control and privacy Conrad offers fabric-lining, independent roller shades, and many other options.

Conrad Shades began fifty years ago when its founder, Edie Conrad, began importing "Biri-Weaves" (handwoven wall coverings made by interweaving wheat and barley strands with silk and linen fibers) from her native Norway.

Conrad Shades provides many window covering options, including Roman fold shades, drapery, sliding panel systems, and cornices.

The panels are minimal and structured, but have enough texture and warmth to keep them from looking too clinical.

The panels also use a cord system that stacks neatly to the side or center, thus ensuring the view from you window is not obstructed.

For over 40 years Conrad has provided interior designers, architects and window covering specialty stores with distinctive, handwoven, roman fold shades to meet their clients' window covering needs.

The natural fibers--flax, hemp, vetiver, arrowroot and bamboo, among others--used to manufacture Conrad shades are rapidly renewable materials with a 10-year or shorter harvest rotation. They are mold and bacteria resistant, VOC-free, durable, contain no harmful toxins, withstand light and heat exposure, and require little maintenance.
